Proposed Kirby Hill Motorway Service Area
HOW TO OBJECT
Right now, Kirby Hill RAMS need EVERYONE who objects to this monstrous scheme to send their individual objections to the North Yorkshire Council Planning Department.
The plans given OUTLINE approval in 2023 cannot be implemented until another RESERVED MATTERS planning application giving more details is also approved. Developer Applegreen / Welcome Break has changed the plans in this RESERVED MATTERS planning application. They are even more harmful than those approved at outline stage.
If you object to the MSA scheme, you need to send an objection to the reserved matters planning application and say it should be REFUSED.
The easiest way to object is to access the planning application using the links below & write your objections in the Comments section (You will be asked to to register and create a login to the Council's Planning Portal).
If you prefer, you can click here to e-mail the responsible Planning Officer: mike.parkes@northyorks.gov.uk. You can also e-mail your objection to the Planning Department's general e-mail address for comments here: planningcomments.har@northyorks.gov.uk
Alternatively, you can write to: Planning Services, North Yorkshire Council, PO Box 787, Harrogate HG1 9RW
Planning application: ZC23/04592/REMMAJ
Main objection: Write an individual objection in your own words, using some or all of the facts below. Only certain issues can be raised at this detailed stage of the planning process. For example:
-
The MSA includes a rear access onto the B6265 Ripon road that does not meet highway safety standards and will have a serious adverse impact on the local road network and road safety.
-
The outline permission says MSA development will not extend east of the A1(M). Now, the eastern field nearest Kirby Hill, which was to be returned to agriculture, is to be filled with man-made surface water lagoons and drainage ditches and cannot be farmed.
-
The 8m high eastern dumb-bell roundabout next to the A168 near Kirby Hill is now so steep that it cannot be screened from view from the village.
-
The new woodland planting on top of the slip road embankments create the appearance of a woodland block, which is out-of-keeping with local landscape character.
-
The layout of the MSA does not show how all parking spaces can be converted to Electric Vehicle charging in future to meet Government policy and Net Zero targets.
!!! PLEASE OBJECT TODAY !!! - THANK YOU
