PUTTING THE PUBLIC IN THE PICTURE

A public perspective on the proposed use of videolink technology by the Planning Inspectorate for Hearings and Inquiries

In April 2020, local resident and Chair of Kirby Hill RAMS, Mr. Gareth Owens, wrote a short paper for the Planning Inspectorate on this topic, to ensure that the public perspective is taken into account and the public is not in any way disadvantaged by the proposed introduction of 'virtual' planning events.

It sets out the advantages and disadvantages of videolink technology and the challenges which the Planning Inspectorate must overcome to use it, as well as a suggested way forward.
